The Spillway IS NOT Draining Vista Pond Dry

Vista Del Lago Pond, the large pond by the clubhouse, is not being drained by the newly repaired spillway.

As of mid‑February 2026, Vista, and the rest of Martin County are dealing with a pretty serious dry spell—so dry that even the cacti are probably asking for a glass of water. The county has issued a burn ban because the Keetch‑Byram Drought Index (which basically measures how thirsty the ground is) has climbed over 600… actually 645. In drought‑speak, that’s “please don’t even think about lighting a match” territory.

Rain has been playing hard‑to‑get lately, too. Some parts of the area have only received 0–25% of the rain they normally get. In other words, the clouds seem to be on vacation.

You will notice all the ponds around Vista are very low - and they will not fill until we get some serious rain - probably in spring.

Don’t worry - the spillway is not causing the problem.
